Krystel Spell has been making a house hold name for herself since starting her own blog in the early 2000's. As a veteran of the blogging game, she soon craved for the other side of blogging - influencer marketing. She partners with brands to find influencers of all caliber to review and blog branded items.


B: In 50 words or less, introduce yourself.

K:My name is Krystel Spell and I am a mom, wife and am owner of digital influencer agency. I am obsessed with the 90's, Youtube and believe wholeheartedly in being an introvert.


B: What influenced you to begin your career in digital strategy / influencer marketing?

K: My career in influencer marketing was by way of my own blog. I started blogging when it wasn't "a thing" and there were no strategies. You literally could blog what you ate or did that day and people would read it. Back then brands loved that authenticity and because I had pushed myself into a concentrated niche, brands flocked to me. I started off receiving free products and from there I started receiving offers for paid work. I realized there was a space for up and coming bloggers and influencers who wanted to earn money and work with big companies, but didn't want to negotiate or deal with them. That's when I decided to become the middle man and make coins for the both of us.


B: What has been your biggest win thus far?

K: I have in my opinion many wins. Overall, it's been the fact that I have hired and paid over 300+ influencers. I am a huge proponent of digital entrepreneurship, so being able to support that has been huge.


B: What is the most exciting part about your work?

K: The most exciting part of my work is that you never know what opportunities are going to come your way . One time I was invited to an event in NYC called "The Women In The World Summit". I knew celebs would be there, but I was certain that we would be behind a rope with no access. Next thing I know I'm sitting in the same row as people like Gayle King, Chelsea Clinton and Meryl Streep. Later on that evening I attend a private dinner hosted by Barbara Walters. The next night I'm at a party at the top of the United Nations with people like Oprah, Nancy Pelosi, and Jessica Alba. Wrap dress creator and legendary fashion designer Diane Von Furstenburg came to our table.




B: If you had one dream client, who would it be and why?


K: In this business any celebrity client would be awesome, because it's easier to get work for celebrities. You don't have to prove their worth as much.

B: How did you come up with the idea for your business?

K: As I mentioned it really was accidentally. I knew I wanted to help other influencers connect with brands and the best way to do that was create an agency. I initially joined another existing agency as VP of Brand Outreach and acquired that agency known as Sofluential. We have since formed a strategic partnership with 2 other females who work in Public Relations and Social Strategy and formed Milspo-Media.com


Being an influencer has advanced so much in 10 years. You have 20 year olds making millions snapping IG posts or creating a TicTok. So having someone to manage that or help you to obtain those opportunities is part of what we do.


B: What would you do differently if you had a chance?

K: Everything I've done has gotten to me where I am now. That said there are probably techy and organizational things I would have done differently in regards to content on my blog. However, so much has changed so I am not sure if I would have been able to do it when I started.


B: What is some advice that you would share with someone looking to start an online business?

K: Position yourself, know our audience, be authentic and most of all go for it!
